Sai savli farmhouse in the small village of Ratnagiri gently blends into the green landscape to impersonate a quiet retreat. Amid of urbanisation, this structure has successfully retained it’s kokan tradition and it’s reflection can be seen in the way it is designed. This house is typically designed to withstand the tropical climate and heavy rainfall that is prevalent in this region. The house is constructed with thick red laterite stone wall that provide insulation from heat and sloping roof with mangalore tiles that withstand heavy rains. Even in interiors, furniture’s used are made from bamboo and wood with a modern touch.
